EYFS Provision with Rainbows Nursery at Our Lady of the Rosary
“At Rainbows Nursery and Our Lady of the Rosary Primary School we understand the importance of real opportunities submerging children into their learning. We ensure that learning is engaging, challenging, fun and supports all children no matter where their starting point. We believe in high quality interactions and positive relationships ensuring children feel safe and regulated while at school. We will deliver our curriculum both indoors and out through a balance of adult-led and child-initiated activities based on the EYFS framework.” — EYFS Team
We believe that a positive, sensitive start to Nursery and School where each child and their family feels supported is vital. At Rainbows Nursery and Our Lady of the Rosary school we see parents as partners in their child’s learning journey. We aim to encourage and nurture this partnership in several ways:
- Discussions with Head of School and EYFS staff prior to seeking admission.
- Information booklets on our EYFS.
- ‘Meet the Teacher info session’ — informal event for parents where staff explain routines and philosophy.
- Online information — school website and Facebook.
- Open door policy — good dialogue — share concerns early.
- Parents' evenings.
- Instagram.
- Facebook.
EYFS Provision Stages
- Rainbows Nursery ages 2–4 years
- Reception Class ages 4–5 years
The EYFS Curriculum is based on seven areas of learning, and we share topics and themes based around each area with the whole of EYFS.

What we offer
1. Seamless Transition and Emotional Security
Children experience a smooth transition from nursery to reception, remaining in a familiar environment with trusted adults. This continuity helps build confidence and emotional resilience, allowing children to settle quickly and thrive.
2. Consistent Curriculum and Teaching Approach
Our EYFS unit follows a unified curriculum that supports learning through play, exploration, and structured activities. Children benefit from a coherent progression in literacy, numeracy, and personal development.
3. Peer Learning and Social Development
Mixed-age interaction encourages younger children to learn from older peers, while older children reinforce their understanding by modelling behaviours and skills.
4. Early Access to Qualified Teaching
Children in our nursery provision benefit from access to qualified teachers from the start, ensuring high-quality instruction and early identification of individual learning needs.
5. Stronger Community and Family Engagement
Our EYFS unit strengthens family-school partnerships, building a strong sense of belonging.
6. Improved Outcomes for All Children
High-quality early years provision has a lasting impact on children’s development. Our EYFS unit aims to give every child the best possible start.
