Some highlights from our learning journey so far…

Collective Worship

Follow the link to find out about the children planning their own Celebration of the Word to share with the class.

Year 3

Artist Workshop

We had a talented local artist come to visit our class to lead a water colour workshop. We made exceptional progress from a tonal ladder using water colours to creating our own still life drawing of a local landscape. We were all very proud of our work!

Animation in Computing

The children thoroughly enjoyed learning about and creating their own stop animation stories in computing.

Super Scientists

In Spring 1, we studied forces and magnets, this was full of investigations and experiments.

We tested the strength of magnets.

We explored the impacted of friction on different surfaces.

Stone Age Day!

Year 3 had a wonderful time at Hardwick Park for a day of outdoor learning to develop our Stone Age understanding. This included creating shelters, making fire, orienteering, building tools and using charcoal for cave art.

Art – Mono Printing

In Year 3, we have been inspired by the artist Julian Opie to create self-portraits. We tried the brand new skill of mono printing. We evaluated by discussing ‘what went well’ with our work and how it would be ‘even better if’.

Creative Song Writing – Belonging

We started our new focus on Promises in Religious Education by working in small teams to create a song or rap about belonging. Amazing creative ideas about following in Jesus’ footsteps.

Affirmation Station
We focused on the statement to live by that I can say good things about myself. As part of our mission we looked at the Affirmation Station in our classroom to confidently say one thing that we are proud of. It was wonderful to see each child smile at their own reflection and to hear them recognise the talents that God have given us.

Geography – Map Skills
We started our new topic in Geography by using an atlas to create a detailed labelled map of the UK. In our teams, we successfully added the countries, capital cities, flags, national flowers and landmarks.

Computing – Digital Devices
We had our very own Dragon’s Den competition in Computing by working in small teams to design our own digital device. Each tea had to think of a unique input and output. Ideas ranged from voice activation to hidden camera to special effect speakers!

Asda Bakery
As a class, we visited Asda to work in the bakery to create muffins for the Macmillan Cake Sale. We had a fantastic time using our Design and Technology skills and learning more about a career in our local community.
