EYFS

Welcome to Early Years!

We are a happy, 68 place Nursery for 2-4 year old children.  Our EYFS is well resourced and benefits from a large, fenced outdoor space as well as spacious indoor learning areas.  We are very proud of our caring and nurturing environment. Mrs White is our EYFS lead  and Nursery Teacher, alongside her in Nursery is Mrs Robson who works in the 3-4 year old room and Mrs Jones and Miss Foreman who work in the 2 year old room. In Reception Class we have Mrs White who is the teacher and Mrs Quinn who is the HLTA

In Nursery and Reception we follow the Early Years Adopters Framework which was published in September 2021.  The Framework specifies the requirement for learning and development in Early Years and provides specific areas for learning which we cover as part of our curriculum.

These areas are:

  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development
  • Physical Development
  • Communication and Language Development
  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding the World
  • Expressive Art and Design

Buddy Time Games

Academic year 22 – 23

In the first autumn term we have been making new friends, settling in and exploring out new environments.

Nursery children have enjoyed reading the story of ‘The Three Billy Goats Gruff’ and acting it out! Reception children have been sharing lots of stories together and enjoyed building towers and houses.

We are enjoying taking part in forest school. We have made bird feeders, leaf hangings and toasted marshmallows around the fire. We know that we need to be ready, respectful and safe when taking part in our outdoor learning.

To begin spring term we have been celebrating Chinese New Year through a range of activities from making lanterns to dragon dancing, Chinese writing and tasting some Chinese food.

Reception class have been taking part in the Big Garden Birdwatch. We spent the day looking at different types of birds we could see in our outdoor area, looking at their features and listening to their bird calls. We worked together to identify our local birds from robins to magpies and kept a tally chart of all the birds we could see. We made sure to look after the birds by making our own bird feeders and filling them with bird seed. We are working towards gaining our Wild challenge bronze award with the RSPB. Stay tuned to find out how we are helping and experiencing nature around us.

Happy Mothers Day!

In Nursery and Reception the children planned a special liturgy for all the special women in our lives. We gathered in the hall and said some prayers together and followed this with an afternoon tea and giving gifts to our mothers, grandmothers, aunties and carers. We talked about all the special things they do for us and enjoyed spending time with them eating cakes!
